Mineral Leasing Several new drilling sites in the Fort Worth area are being acquired by a very large Barnett Shale player, one of which will reach our homeowners. Neighborhoods are partnering together to form a larger footprint of land to help leverage a better deal. Learn more about Mineral Leases

December 2009 Newsletter

Below is a copy of our December 20, 2009 email to our subscribed members

GRNA members,

We previously reported to you that the GRNA Committee was attempting to reorganize / re-form itself, and was not moving very quickly.

Our current status it that about half to the GRNA Committee members (six) are willing to continue to serve on the Committee, and we also have a new Committee member who volunteered in response to the Nov. 24th email. The other half, including our prior chairman, are no longer interested in volunteering. Unfortunately, NONE of those of us who are willing to remain on the Committee are willing/able to lead the group, for reasons that differ with each person. As a result, we have no Chairperson and no action is currently being taken.

We need a leader who is willing to step in, get up to speed on where we are (shouldn't take too long), and take steps to move us forward. That person should be willing to contact a representative of The Caffey Group, and possibly other companies. We need someone who is willing to either compose newsletters like this one, or to convince one of the other Committee members (or some of the other people who are not willing to be on the Committee but who have volunteered to help with specific tasks) to do so. Beyond that, what will be needed will depend on what happens.

So this is our plea to the GRNA membership at large: we need a leader for GRNA. If none steps forward quickly, we will need to let the members know that GRNA is not going to revive itself after all. So if you are willing to volunteer, please let us know.

Thanks!

GRNA members, While most people on the mailing list received our Nov. 13th email, a number of people did not for reasons we cannot determine (and I've asked a couple of people to check and they confirmed the email was not in their junk mail folder). So I am resending a copy. Like the prior email, this email is not anything official from GRNA, just one member of the committee trying to share at least SOMETHING with you so you know what our status is.

There is no new information available yet. The GRNA committee is attempting to reorganize / re-form itself, and is not moving very quickly. Since this is Thanksgiving week and some members are out of town, I assume it will be at least next week before any additional progress is made there, and it could be several weeks before you hear anything official from GRNA. I hope not, but apparently some members were expecting "action" within a few days, and I don't want to mislead anyone into continuing in that expectation. The general opinion I am hearing is that most people think the Caffey Group offer is very low and is not something people would benefit from jumping into unless they just desperately need immediate cash and can make certain they will in fact get that cash quickly enough to meet their need. Again, that is NOT anything official from GRNA, I'm just passing along the general impression I am getting from the members I have heard from. Feel free to sign, not sign, or wait.

The GRNA committee could really benefit from having at least one member who has both the time and the drive to get and keep things moving. If you would like to volunteer to serve on the committee, please let us know. And if you don't volunteer, then please be as patient as you can with those who do.

Thanks,
David Cole

Dear GRNA members,

First, if you have already signed a lease and want to be removed from the mailing list, please do not reply to this email -- instead, please use the link at the bottom of this email to remove yourself from the list.

Starting yesterday many people within GRNA have received offers from The Caffey Group. A number of members have contacted us through the grna.us website to make sure we were aware of this (Thank you!!) and to find out if GRNA will play a role in negotiating on behalf of our members.

GRNA and the GRNA committee have been pretty inactive for some time. Some of the committee members may not be interested in continuing to volunteer. Please give us a few days to organize, gather information, and decide where we stand. It is my personal assumption that GRNA WILL offer to play a role and negotiate on behalf of any members who wish to remain part of GRNA, but that is not an "official" announcement.

Remember, there is no rush, and it is the conventional wisdom that those who sign the first offer usually get the worst deal, but it is your right to sign now or wait.

Stay tuned for more information -- we WILL send another announcement as soon as we have something more to say.

Thanks,
David Cole
